About The Crofts Estate
The development is located to the north/west of Ipswich's town centre within easy access of local shops, schools, amenities and major road links (A14). It consists primarily of 3 and 4 bedroomed semi detached and detached homes, which were constructed, in the main, in the 1930's. The majority come with garages and/or off street parking and are situated on good-sized plots with both front and rear gardens.
Many of the properties have, over the years, been improved and extended to provide larger accommodation, and much of the work has been carried out to a high standard, as befits the area and property values.
There are a number of local shops and amenities including two estate pubs: The Man on the Moon and The Thomas Eldred. Thomas Eldred was a local merchant and seafarer who sailed with Thomas Cavendish, another Suffolk man, on the second English circumnavigation of the globe on a ship called Desire between 1586-88.
Just a stone’s throw from the Man on the Moon pub, is a commercial zone featuring a large Co-op supermarket with a separate and well-stocked pharmacy. There is also a hair salon, a dry cleaners, a fish and chip shop and a post office, making the area virtually self sufficient. Should you need to pop into town for clothes shopping and other essential household goods, then the centre is little more than a 10-15 minute drive away.
The Crofts is a very popular and highly sought after area, due in no small part, to its convenient position in relation to a number of major trunk roads, notably the A12 and the A14. Buses, which serve the area, are fast and frequent and the numbers 9 and 10 are the ones to look out for, offering a scheduled service to and from the town centre.
The Crofts is spoilt for choice in terms of greenery. There are a good number of open green spaces within the development itself and nearby wide-open spaces on the way out towards Henley. Both of these are but a short drive away and just perfect for dog walking and the occasional romantic countryside stroll.
